- Separation efficiency, resolution and their variation
- Different types of stationary phases
Day 2 – a.m. – Theoretical session GC 2
GC Fundamentals:
- Injectors (split/splitless, on-column, PTV)
- Detectors (FID, ECD)
- Quantitative analysis

Experiments and demonstrations related to basic GC:
- Injectors and detectors maintenance and troubleshooting
- Optimal setup of working conditions for selected injectors

Day 3 – a.m. – Theoretical session MSD 1
Basic principles of MS:
- Ionisation modes (EI, CI)
- Analyser’s type (quadrupole, ion trap, TOF)
- Modes of operation (full scan, SIM)
- Fragmentation

Experiments and demonstrations related to basic MSD:
- MS operation parameters (tuning, full scan/SIM)
- Ion identification using EI and CI
- Library use

- Molecular ions and isotopic clusters
- Spectra interpretation
- Principles for quantification
